Helicopter Proposals
Learn more about what to expect when proposing with Whistler Proposals via helicopter.
What To Expect
Location & Transportation
The heliport is a 10-minute drive north of Whistler Village. Transportation can be arranged by Blackcomb Helicopters, subject to availability, departing from Whistler Village.
Scheduling
Flights are pre-scheduled and operate on the hour:
Winter: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Summer: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Proposal Packages
Blackcomb Helicopters offers two proposal options. Packages are priced per flight, not per person. We handle all coordination as part of your booking, including the helicopter service.
Weather Considerations
Helicopter flights depend on clear weather. Cloud cover, snow, or rain can prevent flights from proceeding, especially during the winter months.

How It Works
1. Arrival
Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Upon arrival, the Blackcomb Helicopters team will greet you, sign you in, and provide a waiver to sign.
Before boarding, you’ll watch a short safety video to ensure you’re familiar with the necessary precautions.
2. Meeting the Photographer and Videographer
If you’ve booked photography or video coverage, our photographer (and videographer, if applicable) will be ready to go. They’ll introduce themselves as part of Blackcomb Helicopters’ marketing team and how they’re joining your flight to get content for social media.
For those who’ve booked video, we provide a lav mic to capture audio for the proposal. To make this discreet, we’ll leave the mic in the washroom at the heliport. You’ll receive instructions via email before the flight, and all you need to do is attach it to your clothing. There are no washrooms at any of the landing locations so you’ll need to excuse yourself to use the washroom at the heliport prior to departure.
3. Boarding the Helicopter
IThe Blackcomb Helicopters team will guide you safely onto the helicopter. In cases of back-to-back bookings, you may need to board via “hot loading,” which means boarding while the rotors are running. Follow the team’s instructions carefully for a smooth and safe process.
The helicopter has one seat next to the pilot and four seats in the back. We recommend seating your partner in the front with you directly behind them for the best experience.

The Flight
6. Flying to the Proposal Location
The helicopter will take you to the designated landing site. While we’ll take note of your preferred location, the final destination depends on weather and site availability.
Winter: Rainbow Glacier is typically used, though conditions such as glacier stability can impact availability.
Summer: A wider range of landing locations is accessible.
7. The Proposal
Once the helicopter lands, the pilot will shut down the machine completely before you’re allowed to exit. You’ll have 20 minutes to explore the site, take in the views, and, of course, propose.
Take our your phone to get a few photos. Our photographer/videographer will appear to be working on their own, but they’ll step in to offer a photo of you and your partner together together with the view in the background. This is the perfect moment for them to guide you to the ideal spot. After snapping a photo with your phone, they’ll step back to get their cameras ready while you prepare to propose. Standing side-on works best for capturing the moment.
Take your time and enjoy the experience. Once the proposal is complete, the team will guide you through a few posed shots before wrapping up the session and heading back to the helicopter..
8. Return
On the return flight, you’re welcome to adjust your seating arrangement. You can sit side-by-side in the back or switch places so you can enjoy the front seat views.
The Silver Package will involve a direct flight back down to the heliport.
The Gold Package will include an extended scenic tour over the Whistler Valley. (It’s 100% worth it!)

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have a decor setup at the landing site?
No. These remote alpine locations are dangerous and impractical for decor setups. Operating on the hour, the helicopter cannot accommodate the logistics of transporting and staging decor while adhering to leave-no-trace guidelines.
Can I add champagne or flowers?
Yes! However, due to time constraints, these items are typically presented at the heliport after your return to ensure they remain in perfect condition.
What if the flight is cancelled due to weather?
If a flight is cancelled due to weather, you’ll receive a refund for the helicopter component of your package. As part of your booking, we require a backup location for a premium valley proposal in case of cancellation.
What is the weather like in Jan, Feb, March, April… etc?
Whistler’s weather is highly variable and can change by the hour. We recommend booking as close to your preferred date as possible, but availability is subject to flights and team schedules.
